Today we will define what continental food actually is. Well, continental food is referred to the food which is cooked in European fashion. European cuisine is commonly known as continental food. However, foods from Australia, New Zealand, USA are also of international standards. The foods from there have distinct features. These are called international cuisine. International or continental cuisine is categorized in many ways. For instance, British, Italian cuisine, American cuisine, New Zealand food, Hungarian cuisine etc.

So, what items do they use for continental foods? For basics, meat is a prominent component to make steaks. Sauces are used for seasoning. Furthermore, spices are used less in this kind of food. The frequent items that used, in this kind of food are fresh green herbs, ham, cold meats, pies, pastry, jam, bread etc. Dairy products are also used in international cuisine. There are four methods used in continental food making. Those are baking, stewing, roasting and last of all grilling.


We have to follow some etiquette before having continental food. continental food is eaten with fork and knife. proper dining style is maintained in a continental restaurant like a separate cup for coffee and tea, different sizes of spoons, napkins etc.
