The Infamous Halal Snack Pack
The
halal snack pack became an emerging trend from early 2015. A halal snack pack
or a hsp consists of certified halal kebab style beef, lamb or chicken served
on top of freshly fried and seasoned chips and often topped off with cheese and
a crisscross combination of chilli, garlic and barbecue sauces known as the
holy trinity. Early 2016 a subculture formed around the dish and is suggested
to bring cultures together. In March 2016 more than 1500 people coming from all
around the world especially New Zealand embarked on a “holy pilgrimage” to the
Mecca of halal snack packs in the heart of Campbelltown also known as Kings
Kebab House in Queen Street. This snack became a controversial topic in the
Australian Parliament that senator Sam Dastyari uses as a tool to unite all Australians.
