Food Dieting
Although this blog is primarily on different types of food and how good they taste, I thought it would also be necessary to educate about proper dieting. Food variety is important to maintain a healthy lifestyle. A healthy diet can not only help a person have better health better but can also reduce the risk of many diseases. Five food groups:
- Vegetables, Legumes, Beans: These include important vitamins and nutrients
- Fruit: Many vitamins and fibre (You've heard the saying an apple a day keeps the doctor away for a reason!)
- Lean Meats, Poultry, Fish, Eggs, Tofu, Nuts and Seeds: Includes most of people's protein intake which is important for bones, muscles, cartilage skin and the blood
- Grain foods, wholegrain and/or high cereal fibre varities: Fibres and really good for weight loss! (Makes you feel fuller while eating less than other foods)
- Milk, Yoghurt, Cheese and/or alternatives if you're vegan: Calcium and protein to help maintain bones and tissue repair
This is a rough outline and should be taken with a grain of salt, if you crave an unhealthy snack or maybe a cheeky macca's run it isn't the end of the world and you shouldn't be having to starve yourself to lose weight or stuffing yourself to the point of uncomfort if you're trying to put on some weight. Happy dieting!
